Swedish ankle foot orthosis

An orthosis, or brace, used externally to the body, which provides static dorsiflexion assistance and lateral stability for the foot and ankle. It is used by those needing support for temporary or longer term conditions when walking. This example is made from lightweight injection moulded polyethylene with polypropylene padded fastenings, secured with a stud to the orthosis. The footplate is flexible and thinner in profile than the thicker shin section which provides extra stability. The orthosis can be trimmed to size and heated and moulded to shape for a more comfortable fit. It's open, low profile design offers a comfortable and discreet solution which is worn inside a shoe.
