Description
A collection of thirteen component parts of a trumpet, produced by the FDM (fused deposition modelling) process. FDM is an additive manufacturing process in which an object is created directly from a CAD (computer aided design) model, using layer-by-layer deposition of a feed stock filament, in this case PLA (polylactic acid), extruded through a nozzel. In total these component parts took approximately four x 14 hour print runs. The parts are unfinished. They can be sanded, filled and painted to achieve a more acceptable finish. They were made for MoDiP by the Modelmaking department at Arts University Bournemouth in 2018. Measurements given are for the largest component which has been fabricated from a number of parts
