Description

An imitation ivory backcomb, circa 1910, is decorated with a pierced design of a row of eleven flowers, divided by stone set pinacles rising to a zig-zag shaped border, also set with amber coloured stones. The cellulose nitrate from which this comb is made has distinct vertical striations. The comb is thought to be French Canadian in origin.
