Description
A horseshoe shaped backcomb in a mottled brown coloured cellulose nitrate, imitating tortoiseshell. The centre of the header of the comb is pierced with a scrolling design. The horseshoe shaped surround is banded with gold coloured lines. There are four circular discs on the surround probably indicating that it was once decorated with flat paste stones, which are now missing. The comb is in the style of the combs of August Bonaz, who worked in France at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
