Rotring Rapidograph pen

Description

A boxed Rotring Rapidograph fountain pen for marking and drawing with Indian ink. This example is complete with two sets of instructions for use and the remains of a small piece of used blotting blotting paper. These pens came in a range of line widths but the width indication mark for this example is no longer visible. The company was established in 1928 adopting Rotring as its name in the early 1970s to reflect the trademark red ring around the barrel. The company's first pen was designed with a narrow steel tube instead of a conventional metal nib but it was not as popular as a nib pen for handwriting. The Rotring Rapidograph was issued circa 1953 and was the first technical pen of it's type, replacing the traditional ruling pen. This pen has a black barrel and cap with a metal clip.
