Philite plaque of Anton Philips

Description

A rectangular plaque, commemorating the 60th birthday of Anton Philips, founder of Philips Electronics. The rectangular plaque has a central roundal containing a profile portrait, moulded in relief surrounded by the words 'DR. ANTON FREDERIK PHILIPS AET 60 1934' This plaque is made from Philite, a compression moulded urea formaldehyde made by Philips at their Eindhoven factory in the Netherlands c. 1934. The plaque is pierced along the top edge to accommodate something by which the plaque can be hung.
