Australian polymer bank note

Description

A five Australian Dollars polymer bank note. Australia was the first country with a full set of circulating polymer banknotes in each denomination, from 5 to 100 dollars in 1996. This example was issued from 1992 to 2016 and is printed on 'Guardian', a non-porous and non-fibrous substrate which is inpervious to liquids and difficult to tear. 'Guardian' is made by extruding and layering polypropylene and other polyolefins. Polymer banknotes incorporate a number of sophisticated security features to deter counterfeiting.
