Description
A sealed pack of six Propoint obturating points used in root canal surgery. Manufactured by DRFP Ltd. The winner of the Horners Award for Plastics Design and Innovation 2014. Propoints were designed to replace existing materials and some techniques, which can cause damage to the tooth and increase the chances of reinfections. For example, Propoints are a single-cone obturator, and so only one Propoint is required per tooth, unlike multi-cone lateral compaction techniques which a) create potential voids within the canal increasing chances of reinfection and b) result in lateral compaction which can potentially cause root fracture through the forces exerted. Propoint combined with SmartPaste, forms a two-part filling system known as SmartSeal, which is easier to use and a more predictable body friendly root canal treatment. Root canal surgery removes the nerve in the tooth leaving a space which needs to be filled, this nylon based system replaces gutta-percha to fill the space. The hydrophilic nature of the points can absorb surrounding moisture in the tooth and expand filling all the voids and spaces. Dimensions listed are for the packet.
