Description

This, lightweight plastic bottle, from the 2000s, is designed to be carried comfortably whilst running. The oval doughnut design wraps around the hand and has a screw on top with flip up drinking spout. The bottle is made from high density polyethylene and has a capacity of 275mls. The Runaid Bottle was first designed in the early 1982s (using the designer's children's plasticine) and originally held a quarter of a pint. Due to consumer demand to carry more liquid on a run the small bottle was superseded by the larger half- and full-pint versions. The design helps to reduce the tension in the arm experienced when carrying conventional sports bottles, as a lighter grip is required to keep hold of the bottle.
