Civilian radio receiver

Description

A civilian radio receiver dating from World War II, mainly made of wood with a fabric covered speaker which has been repaired several times. It has compression moulded phenol formaldehyde knobs and the inscription 'Zoe R Ford 1945'. Receivers during the war were manufactured to a standard pattern under Government licence. This example was by GEC and is a medium wave radio with the dial marked for 'home' and 'forces' stations only.
