GPO Telephone No. 745

Description

This push button General Post Office (GPO) telephone was designed to be wall mounted and locked for use by employees who possesed a key. It is thought to date from the 1970s or 1980s. The moulded alluminium metal box containing the telephone has an illustration of the handset on the door and two ringer bells at the rear. The receiver is made from black phenol formaldehyde and there is a plastic sign on the inside of the lid which reads 'Clip handset firmly in position before closing door'.
