Description

A spherical ashtray with three fold-out cigarette rests. The base is weighted with a lead disk and the top is made of marbled, pink, compression moulded urea formaldehyde (Beetle trade name). Manufactured by Roanoid Ltd and dating to circa 1934. The three fold-out arms can be closed in the centre to form a complete sphere, which also acts as a closure for non-fume purposes. It can be emptied by the two halves being unscrewed. This item forms part of the Plastics Historical Society (PHS) collection.
