De Trey's tooth colour sample

Description

A set of five, colour matching acrylic teeth, secured to cellulose nitrate sticks held within a red coloured plastic frame. Originally boxed (missing with this example), the shade guide is marked 'De Trey's HS Plastic C-form teeth' and was manufactured by the Amalgamated Dental Co., London, circa 1965-1975. The company was founded in 1896 by Edward Power in Walton on Thames, Surrey, England. It was taken over by Claudius Ash, Sons & Company and in 1924, E. de Trey & Sons and Claudius Ash merged to form The Amalgamated Dental Company which was renamed AD International in 1967. The teeth are marked D, F, H, J and L. This item forms part of the Plastics Historical Society (PHS) collection.
