Photo: Hoover steam iron

Hoover steam iron. Photo caption: Hoover Steam Iron uses Melamine-Phenolics. The good dimensional stability of Bakelite melamine-phenolics in a hot damp environment ensures that mouldings will not warp. This property makes the material particularly suitable for domestic appliances or kitchen utensils which are exposed to heat and steam. A blue melamine-phenolic was chosen for the handle and temperature dial of the Hoover Steam Iron. This item is part of the MoDiP BXL collection.
