Grey QMilk fibre jersey sample

Description

A sample of the QMilk fibre jersey material in the 'storm grey' colour. The jersey material is composed of 60% organic cotton and 40% QMilk fibre. QMilk, or QMilch, is the brand name of a patented milk protein based fibre created by Anke Domaske. Domaske was interested in producing a sustainable textile option catered towards individuals with a sensitivity to fabrics. Milk protein textiles tend to be very smooth to the touch, contain natural UV protection, are temperature regulating, lightweight, and have the ability to hold dye and colour extremely well. The concept of using milk protein in textiles is not a new; however, QMilk has been the most sustainable attempt so far. The milk used for this fibre is organic milk that has expired and would normally be thrown away. Additionally, the manufacturing process of QMilk requires far less chemicals than other fabrics, is done at lower temperatures with a limit of two litres of water per five minutes of processing time, and is fully compostable.
