Description

A compact, mains powered valve radio with a brown phenol formaldehyde cabinet with a gold coloured expanded wire mesh speaker grill. Issued by Bush in the 1950s, this radio is furnished with an on/off/volume knob (left) and a tuning knob (right). The lever switch on the right hand side of the cabinet selects the required waveband. It is said that ridged knobs were introduced, replacing smooth knobs in earlier models, as a result of complaints from housewives with greasy or wet fingers finding it difficult to turn them. A glass printed programme indicator, which is lit from below when switched on, is situated on an angle at the top front edge of the radio.
